Online community colleges for military spouses?

Hello everyone! My partner is considering serving in the military after high school and we may have to move a lot. I've been considering enrolling in an online community college so I can further my education. Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions?

Absolutely! There are many community colleges that are recognized for their online programs and are military-friendly. These colleges understand the transient nature of a military family's lifestyle and have structures in place to accommodate that.

One of these is the University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) which has a strong reputation for working with military personnel and their families. They also have a special office dedicated to military and veteran affairs with certified veterans service counselors to help you navigate through any issues you may face as a military spouse. Their programs range from Business Administration to Cybersecurity, giving you a wide range of options to choose from.

Another one is Central Texas College. This school has a specific military admissions process and provides services like tuition assistance, advising, and registration assistance designed specifically for military members and their families.

There's also Coastline College, known for its online learning and services tailored to military members and their families. The college provides a 'Military Student Advisor' to provide individual support and guidance for each student.

Remember, you might be eligible for some financial aid like MyCAA (My Career Advancement Account Scholarship), a workforce development program that offers up to $4,000 of tuition assistance to eligible military spouses.

Do keep in mind that you need to select a program that aligns with your career goals. The chosen program should also be flexible enough to accommodate the instability in terms of location that comes with being a part of a military family. A smart approach could be to shortlist schools, research their offered courses and student support for military families, and based on this compatibility, make an informed decision.

I hope this helps. Best of luck with your educational journey!
