Hey, guys! I'm an active military member stationed in Orlando, Florida. I've acquired a lot of credits from the military that I'm hoping to transfer. Does anybody have a list of colleges around here that could accept them? Thanks!
It's awesome to hear you are considering transferring your military credits towards higher education. In Orlando, several institutions highly value military experience and are members of the Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) Consortium, including the University of Central Florida (UCF), Valencia College, and Herzing University. These colleges are known to accept and evaluate military training/experience for college credit.
UCF, in particular, has been recognized as a Military Friendly School. They have a significant amount of resources for veterans, including a Veterans Academic Resource Center. They utilize the ACE (American Council on Education) guidelines to evaluate and convert military training into academic credits.
Valencia College also has a robust veterans' program and is committed to providing resources for veterans transitioning into academic life. Similar to UCF, they utilize the ACE guide to assess potential credit from military training.
Herzing University is another institution that values the experience gained from military service and translates it into applicable college credits.
Keep in mind, that each institution may have its policies regarding the awarding of credits, so it would be a good idea to reach out directly to their Veterans Affairs or admissions offices. Additionally, a JST (Joint Services Transcript) is typically required, which enumerates all of your military training and experiences.
Good luck with your pursuit of further education, and thank you for your service!
