Politically Liberal Indiana Colleges?

Hello! So, I'm a pretty liberal Hoosier looking for a college that matches my political views. Are there any colleges in Indiana that are known for a mostly liberal student body? How does that lean influence life on campus?

While most colleges have a mixture of political viewpoints, a few Indiana schools have a reputation for having more liberal-leaning student bodies. This doesn’t mean that these universities are without conservative viewpoints or students, but rather they are known for their varied and diverse student perspectives, courses that focus on social justice issues, and active clubs and organizations that lean in this direction.

One such institution is Earlham College, a private liberal arts college in Richmond. It's consistently ranked as one of the most liberal colleges in the Midwest, and is known for its strong programs in peace and global studies, environmental sustainability, and social justice. Life on campus is shaping up as socially conscious, with varied forums for discussion, advocacy, and activism.

Another school to consider is Indiana University-Bloomington (IU). As a big, public research university, IU hosts a wide variety of political beliefs, but its student body tends to lean more to the left. Activities and organizations on campus are very diverse, ranging from awareness and advocacy groups to clubs and activities focusing on issues such as climate change, LGBTQ+ rights, and more.

Also, remember that the political leaning of a school doesn't solely dictate the campus culture. Programs of study, locale or community, extracurriculars, and student engagement activities help shape the environment as well. Whichever college you end up choosing, it's important to consider factors beyond just political leaning that will contribute to your educational and personal growth.
