Which US city is most college-dense?

Hey everyone! I'm a junior starting the college search process. I love the idea of being in a city full of colleges and students. So, I'm curious, which US city has the most colleges and universities packed into it? Thanks for any help!

Based on sheer volume, the city of Boston, Massachusetts wins hands down. Boston frequently claims the title of the "Biggest College Town" due to its high number of higher education institutions and the large student population resulting from these. In Boston and its neighboring cities, you'll find schools like Boston University, Boston College, Northeastern University, Tufts University, and of course, the world-renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard University in Cambridge.

However, keep in mind that the "college town" vibe can vary greatly depending on the size and integration of the universities within the city. For instance, New York City has more students but may not feel like a 'college town' due to its size and diversity of people and industries. Looking beyond the numbers can help you find the city environment that suits you best. You'll want to consider factors like the proportion of students to the general population, the integration of the student population in the city, the accessibility and frequency of intercollegiate activities, and the level of town-and-gown interaction.

Consider visiting, virtually or in-person, these cities and assessing which one feels like the right balance of college and city life for you. Ultimately, the college town that best matches your needs and aspirations for these upcoming years is the one you should choose.
