Searching for the Best: Most Beautiful College Campuses in Texas?

Hey everyone, so my family and I are planning college visits for this summer and since I'm based in Texas, it makes sense to start here. In your opinion, which colleges in Texas have the most beautiful campuses? I'd appreciate any suggestions y'all might have!

Texas has quite a few campuses that could vie for the title of 'most beautiful.' Of course, beauty is subjective and what you find appealing could depend on what you are looking for in terms of architecture, natural surroundings, and overall vibe.

If Gothic Revival architecture appeals to you, you might want to start with the Rice University campus in Houston. It boasts beautiful stone-clad buildings situated amongst impressive oak trees. Plus, the campus is right next to Hermann Park and the Houston Museum District, lending more charms to its location.

Over in Austin, you'll find the University of Texas (UT Austin) that combines modern and traditional architectural styles with a splash of Texas flavor. The iconic UT Tower and Main Building stand tall in the center of the campus, which is also interspersed with patches of greenery, making it a nice blend of urban and natural beauty.

Southern Methodist University, located in Dallas, is known for its Georgian-inspired architecture. Its stately brick buildings and well-manicured green lawns give it an air of classic elegance.

Baylor University in Waco is another contender, with a picturesque campus that features a mix of old and new infrastructure. The Burleson Quadrangle is a visual treat with its vintage buildings and lush lawns, and the McLane Stadium on the Brazos River gives the campus a unique touch.

Lastly, Texas State University in San Marcos is nestled in the Texas Hill Country, giving it a scenic beauty that's hard to beat. The University's red-brick buildings contrast against the natural beauty of surrounding hills and rivers. The campus itself houses a river, and there's also the nearby Sewell Park which is popular among students.

Of course, these are just a few suggestions and there are many more beautiful campuses in Texas. I'd recommend combining your visits with campus tours to get a feel of the academic environment as well. Happy visiting!
