Parent's View on Military Over College

So, my son recently expressed his desire to join the military over going to college. I always anticipated he'd go to college and get a degree. Can someone enlighten me on some of the benefits and potential risks of this choice? What are some impactful long-term factors we should consider when making this decision?

While it's natural to anticipate your child's most likely path based on societal conventions - college after high school - it's also important to respect their individual strides toward carving their own path. The military can certainly provide opportunities and experiences that a traditional college path might not.
