Hi folks, I'm a high school junior considering UBC and I need some help! Does anybody know if UBC requires letters of recommendation for its undergraduate programs? Or is that only for grad students? Thanks in advance!
The University of British Columbia (UBC) generally does not require letters of recommendation for its undergraduate admissions process. As an applicant, you'll be asked to complete the Personal Profile section during the application process, which allows you to highlight your experiences, achievements, and personal qualities.
However, certain programs within UBC may have additional application requirements beyond the general admissions process. For example, some might need supplementary applications, interviews, or auditions. Therefore, I would strongly recommend checking the specific requirements of the program(s) you're interested in.
That being said, if there are significant circumstances that you believe have impacted your academic performance and you think aren't fully captured by the Personal Profile, you may be able to provide additional information, which could include a letter of recommendation. Overall, it's always a good idea to check with UBC Admissions or the department of your intended major if you have any doubts or questions about the application process.
