Letters of Recommendation for UPenn Undergraduate Applications

Hey, I'm nervous about getting my applications right. I'm applying to UPenn next year and I have a question about their letters of recommendation policy. How many do they require and who should these be from?

Sure thing, happy to clear up any confusion on this! The University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) requires two letters of recommendation from teachers. Where possible, they suggest that these teachers should be from different academic subjects. They want to see different perspectives on your abilities in the classroom, so it's a good idea to ask teachers who know you well and can speak to your strengths as a student.

Additionally, your school counselor will need to submit a letter of recommendation. This recommendation often covers different ground as it's typically a broader view of your academic record, extracurricular activities, and overall performance at your school.

So to summarize: you need one counselor letter and two teacher letters, for a total of three letters of recommendation. This is a chance for the admissions committee to see a more personal side of you, so make sure you choose people who can really highlight your strengths and achievements. I hope this helps!
