Experience in Citadel Military College

Has anyone here attended or knows someone who has attended The Citadel Military College? I am trying to gather some first-hand reviews or experiences about the college. Can someone please share?

While I personally haven't attended The Citadel, I've gathered information from several previous students about their experiences. They've typically highlighted strong elements like discipline, physical fitness, leadership, as well as challenges.

Majorly, students appreciate The Citadel for its focus on developing discipline and leadership skills. The military-style teaching is rigorous, and they appreciate the opportunity to grow, not just acadically, but holistically.

Physical fitness is another area where The Citadel exerts heavy focus. Cadets have mandatory Physical Training (PT) sessions and are required to pass fitness tests regularly.

In terms of academics, The Citadel offers a wide range of majors and the faculty have been described as dedicated and knowledgeable in their respective fields.

However, it's important to note that, as is expected of any military school, there are fairly strict rules and regulations. Students also mentioned that while the experience is very enriching, it can be incredibly challenging both physically and mentally, due to the strict discipline, rigorous academic pace, and the demanding schedule.

In terms of social life, while it's not your typical college experience with parties and events, there's significant camaraderie amongst the corps of cadets. This strengthens their teamwork and leadership skills, and creates friendships that last a lifetime.

In summary, most of those I've spoken to look back at their time at The Citadel with satisfaction and pride, despite the challenges faced along the way. Just remember that military school isn't for everyone, and it will depend on your personal goals and values.
