Getting College Credit For Military Service - What colleges do this?

I've been serving in the military and I'm starting to look into colleges. I've heard that some colleges give credit for military service. Does anyone have a list or know of any institutions that do that? It would be a huge help!

Many colleges in the United States recognize the skills and experience gained from military service and often award college credit for it. It's usually done through the evaluation of your Joint Services Transcript (JST) or Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) transcript if you've served in the Air Force.

Some institutions known for generously awarding credit for military experience include:

1. American Military University (AMU): AMU is a leading provider of higher education to the U.S. military. They award credit for military training and prior learning.

2. Excelsior College: Another military-friendly school, Excelsior College provides credit for military service and also accepts CLEP and DSST exams, which are often taken by service members.

3. Thomas Edison State University: Similar to the others, this university offers credit for military training consistent with recommendations from the American Council on Education (ACE).

4. University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC): UMGC also awards credit for military training and experience.

5. Purdue University Global: They offer credit for military training and occupational specialties. The school's Prior Learning Assessment can help you earn credit for learning acquired through military training.

These are just few examples. Most public universities and community colleges have policies to help military and veteran students transfer their military training and experience into college credits.

Remember, it's also beneficial to consider other aspects like the school's veteran support services, flexibility for deployed students, and the availability of online programs while choosing a college.
