What are some eco-friendly college campuses?

Hey everyone! I'm super passionate about environmental sustainability and I'm trying to find colleges that align with my values. I've read about colleges that invest lots in sustainable landscaping. Anyone have any tips or suggestions on which colleges I should be researching that have the most sustainable landscaping practices, and overall do a lot for the environment?

Sure, there are quite a few colleges that align with your passion for environmental sustainability and have significant initiatives towards sustainable landscaping and overall eco-friendliness.

1. Middlebury College: This Vermont campus is a leader in environmental stewardship. It has pledged to be carbon-neutral by 2028 and integrates sustainability practices throughout its campus operations and academics. The college has a highly-regarded environmental studies program and a student-inspired organic garden.

2. Stanford University: Stanford prides itself on sustainable landscaping. It incorporates native and drought-tolerant plants in its landscaping design. Additionally, the school's "Y2E2" building, a hub for environmental research, is LEED Platinum certified, indicating the highest level of commitment to environmental sustainability.

3. College of the Atlantic: The entire institution revolves around human ecology. This Maine college prides itself on being the first carbon-neutral college and is continuously investing in renewable sources of energy. It has a major composting program and its dining services aim for local, organic food.

4. Colorado State University: It's well known for its commitment to sustainability. The campus boasts five LEED Platinum buildings and several initiatives that support sustainable practices like a composting program and an organic garden managed by students.

5. University of California, Santa Cruz: Encompassing an organic farm and an agroecology program, this university has a strong commitment to sustainability, which extends to its landscape management practices. It also focuses on water conservation and has a huge compost system set up.

6. Warren Wilson College: Located in North Carolina, this college incorporates sustainable practices in its required work program for students. They have a farm, garden, recycling program, and a crew dedicated to land conservation.
