What is the most stressful college degree to pursue?

Hi folks. I've been reading up a lot on college degrees and I understand that some are more stressful than others. Can anyone provide insights about which degree might be the most stressful to pursue? Just want a heads up before I take the plunge.

It's good that you're considering the stress levels for each degree, as college can indeed be a challenging time. However, it's crucial to note that perceived stress levels can vary widely from one individual to the next, depending on their personal interests, skills, and coping mechanisms.

Generally, though, some majors are often cited as being more strenuous. Engineering degrees like Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering are widely recognized as demanding due to the complex coursework, laboratory time, group projects, and sometimes internships that go along with these programs.

Similarly, majors like Architecture tend to be highly stressful due to the intense studio culture and the time-consuming nature of the coursework.

Pre-med students, or those pursuing degrees in Biology or Biochemistry with intentions of going to medical school, generally report high stress levels too, because they usually have to juggle intense coursework, clinical or research experiences, volunteering, and preparing for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT).

However, stress isn't solely tied to the course. Other factors like family expectations, financial pressure, and balancing academic work with a part-time job, among others, can also contribute to one's overall stress levels.

Ultimately, while it's important to be aware of the potential stressors in pursuing any degree, it's equally critical to choose a major that aligns with your strengths, interests, and goals. Investing time into learning effective stress-management techniques can be equally fruitful and help ensure a smoother, more enjoyable college experience.
