Pre-med Success Rates?

Hi all! I'm a junior planning on doing pre-med in college and I'm just kind of stressed about picking the right university. Does anyone know which colleges send the most students to medical school right after undergrad? Thanks in advance for any help!

Hello! It's sensible to be considering colleges that have a good track record of pre-med success. Some well-regarded universities for pre-med include Johns Hopkins, University of Pennsylvania, and Harvard. These schools are known for having strong advising systems, opportunities for medical research, and rigorous science programs that prepare students for the MCAT and medical school.

Keep in mind that some universities report their success rates in terms of their acceptance rates to medical schools, while others report the number of students who matriculate to medical school. It's also useful to know how many students start pre-med and end up applying to medical school, since a high "weed-out" rate could indicate a highly competitive environment that could be stressful.

What's most important is not necessarily the raw number of students who go to medical school right after undergrad - since larger schools will obviously send more students - but rather, the support system the school has in place for pre-med students. This includes advising, opportunities for clinical exposure and research, and how they assist students with the medical school application process. Look for universities that support their pre-med students' journey, not just those with top-placement rates.

Remember, your personal fit with the school and your ability to succeed is ultimately what will help you reach your goals. Good luck with your search and application process!
