NBA Players from College

Just out of curiosity because I adore hoops. Does anyone have an idea of the colleges that historically have produced the most NBA players? I'm not looking to go pro or anything, it's just something I'm interested in.

Sure, I completely understand your curiosity! College basketball and its influence on the NBA is fascinating. There are several colleges known for their strong basketball programs and histories of sending players into the NBA.

1. The University of Kentucky: Renowned for its legendary basketball program, University of Kentucky has sent many student-athletes to the NBA. Kentucky's basketball program under John Calipari has produced copious NBA lottery picks in recent years.

2. The University of North Carolina: Michael Jordan is one of UNC's most well-known basketball alumni, but he's far from the only Tar Heel to make it into the NBA. You'll find numerous UNC players in the league today.

3. Duke University: Duke is another ACC school with a powerful basketball program. Mike Krzyzewski, the team’s coach until 2022, had a knack for developing NBA-ready talent.

4. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): UCLA, especially under coach John Wooden, has a rich legacy of producing NBA talent. Players like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Russell Westbrook have come out of this program.

5. University of Kansas: The Jayhawks have a long list of alumni who have played in the NBA.

Overall, Kentucky, UNC, Duke, UCLA, and Kansas have particularly strong histories of producing NBA players, but there are also many other colleges with impressive basketball programs, like Georgetown University and Michigan State University, among others. You'll find that many of these colleges not only produce players who make it into the NBA, but have a reputation for developing high-quality players who go one to have long and successful careers in the league.
