This might be a long shot, but does anybody know if there are colleges known for having a higher percentage of married students? I’m married and would feel more comfortable in a community where I’m not the only one. Thanks in advance!
Certainly! It's understandable to want to be part of a community where there are others in similar circumstances as yourself.
There are a few universities that stand out in this respect, largely due to their religious affiliations. Brigham Young University, located in Utah, frequently has a significant portion of its student body who are married. This is due to a large number of students being members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which traditionally encourages early marriage. Certain campuses, such as BYU Idaho, may even have more than half the student body married.
Additionally, universities located in smaller towns or rural areas can also display a higher percentage of married students. Schools like Montana State University and University of Idaho have sizable married student populations, likely owing to the local culture and traditions.
Also, commuter schools or those that cater to non-traditional students (like online universities or vocational colleges) often have a large percentage of married students. This is because people pursuing education later in life or alongside a career may already be married.
Remember, even if a university has a lower percentage of married students, many institutions offer resources for married students, such as housing for families or clubs for non-traditional students. Look on the websites of universities you're interested in to learn what resources they offer.
Hopefully this information aids you in finding a college environment where you feel comfortable. Good luck with the search!
