Driving License - A Must-have?

Hey, fellow high-schoolers! I've been wondering if most college students have a driver's license? Is it a must-have thing, or can I survive without one?

While having a driver's license can certainly be convenient, it's by no means a must-have for all college students. The necessity for a driver's license can vary significantly depending on factors like your campus location, your personal needs, and the availability of alternate transportation options.

For instance, if your campus is in a city with a comprehensive public transportation system or if everything you need (like classes, dining, housing, etc.) is within walking or biking distance, you might not need a car at all. Many larger colleges have shuttle services, and options like Uber, Lyft, and bike-share programs are increasingly common.

Conversely, if you're attending a school where the campus is spread out or in a more rural location, a car might be more important. This could be the case if you need to commute off-campus for work if you're involved in off-campus activities, or if grocery stores and other amenities aren't easily accessible otherwise.

You also have to consider parking and the associated costs on campus. Some campuses have limited parking, and the cost of parking permits can be high. Insurance, maintenance, and fuel for a car are also additional expenses to keep in mind.

Remember, it's always great to have a driver's license for identification purposes and for situations where you could need to drive - but when it comes to college, think about your circumstances and needs.
