Strict Colleges: Where Are the Rules?

I've always done well in structured environments, so I'd be interested in hearing about some colleges with quite a few rules or regulations. Which schools are known for this? I think it could be a good fit for me. Thanks for your help!

Sure, there are a number of colleges out there known for providing a more structured environment, and they have varying degrees of rules or regulations. Here are a few examples:

1. The United States Military Academy (West Point), United States Naval Academy, and United States Air Force Academy are some examples of colleges that have a highly structured environment given their military nature. The same goes for the United States Coast Guard Academy and the United States Merchant Marine Academy. These military service academies emphasize not just academic learning, but also discipline, character development, and physical fitness.

2. Brigham Young University (BYU), which is affiliated with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, has an honor code that all students must adhere to. This includes not only academic honesty but also rules on personal conduct and dress.

3. Colleges that adhere to the Great Books Curriculum, such as St. John's College or Thomas Aquinas College, have highly structured academic programs. The curriculum at these schools is focused on the classic works of Western civilization, and students have a prescribed set of courses with heavy emphasis on discussion and analysis.

4. Many Christian colleges have conduct codes that regulate behavior on and off-campus, such as Wheaton College in Illinois or Bob Jones University in South Carolina. The codes usually include rules related to tobacco, alcohol, and drug use, as well as behavior aligning with their Christian values.

Finally, it's important to note that every college has rules and regulations to some degree, especially when it comes to behavior on campus and academic integrity. A school’s atmosphere and culture can also add a layer of structure even if there aren’t explicit rules. So when you're selecting colleges, don't just focus on the rules or regulations, but also consider the overall environment and whether it fits what you're looking for.
