Colleges That Lead in Producing Doctors?

Hi folks, hope y'all are doing well. I'm really interested in becoming a doctor and I'm wondering if anyone knows about colleges that have the highest numbers of students who go on to med school or become physicians per capita. Would be great to learn more.

Sure, I can provide some information on this.

Firstly, there are "feeder" schools for med school such as Harvard, Stanford, and Johns Hopkins which have a high number of graduates who go on to medical school. However, this isn't surprising considering their large student bodies and the prowess of their science and pre-med programs.

Per capita, some smaller, liberal arts colleges have a high percentage of students who end up in med school. These include schools like Amherst College, Carleton College, and Williams College. These colleges have robust undergraduate programs that prepare students very well for medical school.

More important than the absolute number or percentage of students that proceed to medical school, is the support and resources a college provides for pre-med students. This includes strong science and math departments, opportunities for research or internships in the medical field, and good pre-med advising resources.

For example, at Johns Hopkins, the pre-professional advising office assists students who are preparing for medical school by providing individual counseling, workshops, and support in the application process.

Similarly, The University of Florida has a pre-health advising team, which hosts group information sessions, workshops, guest speakers and other events related to medical school, and also provides one-on-one advising appointments. This could be incredibly helpful in making sure you stay on track with your pre-med requirements and med school applications.

Hope this helps!
