Pack for College?

The big move-in day isn't too far and I've started packing. Just curious- do most college students bring two luggages when moving into the dorm?

The amount of luggage that students bring can vary quite a bit depending on a few different factors. It can depend on how far you're traveling, how furnished your room will be, and how many personal items you want to have with you.

Two luggage cases is pretty common for a lot of students, but some may bring more or less. For example, students traveling from farther away or international students often bring as much as they can handle safely, since it's harder for them to return home to grab additional items. But students who live close by or who prefer a minimalist set-up may bring less.

Something to consider is that most dorm rooms are not very spacious, so you'll want to be mindful of not overpacking. Assess your needs and pack efficiently. Many students find it helpful to contact their future roommate and discuss who will bring shared items, like a fridge, microwave, etc.

A pro tip: pack a 'first night bag' (things you'll need immediately like toiletries, sheets and a change of clothes) and keep it separate so that you don't have to rummage through everything else on your first day.

The key aspect here is to prioritize and only bring the items that you will actually use or need. Once you've lived on campus for a while, you'll get a better sense of what you do and do not need, which you can factor into your packing for the next year.
