Which field hockey positions get the most scholarships at colleges?

Hello! I'm a field hockey player in high school and I've been looking into college scholarships. Do certain positions like striker or goalkeeper tend to get more scholarships than others?

When it comes to college scholarships for field hockey, it's not so much about the specific position you play but rather your skill level, consistency in your performance, and your ability to make a significant impact on the team. While some might argue that positions such as goalkeeper can be highly coveted due to the critical role they play, it's not a guarantee that they would have more scholarship opportunities.

Scholarship allocation also heavily depends on the needs of the individual college team. If a college team is losing its star striker to graduation, they may prioritize recruiting for that position in the next season. Similarly, if a team has a strong track record in defensive positions but is lacking a formidable goalkeeper, there might be more scholarships available for goalkeepers.

It's important you stand out in your chosen position, whether that's as a goalkeeper, midfielder, striker, or defender. College coaches are looking for the best talent to improve their team, regardless of the position.

Remember, playing field hockey at the collegiate level is about more than just securing a scholarship. Over the course of your college career, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your skills, face new challenges, and perhaps even compete at a higher level.

Keep improving your skills, maintain your grades, and don't forget to make a highlight reel of your best plays to appeal to your prospective coaches. Good luck!
