Implementing Lessons from Bruni's Book

I'm halfway through Frank Bruni's 'Where You Go Is Not Who You'll Be.' It has great insights on how to maximally utilize the college experience. But, I'd love to hear from anyone who has practically applied any of the book's teachings to their own college journey. How did it go for you, and what benefits did it have?

As you noted, Bruni's book offers a counterpoint to the obsession with elite colleges and instead, emphasizes making the most of any institution you attend. While I haven't had personal experience, I've seen ways in which students have applied the teachings in Frank Bruni's book.

Many students have found that pursuing their interests passionately, irrespective of the prestige of their university, was more impactful than simply being at an elite school. For instance, one student, despite not attending a top-tier school, led a successful campaign for an environmental cause within their local community. This demonstrated leadership and a deep commitment to their passion, eventually leading to job opportunities within the environmental sector after graduation.
