Studying in Germany, But in English

I am seriously considering Germany for my undergraduate studies due to its reputation for quality education. But, I'm not fluent in German. Are there German colleges where most of the coursework is in English?

Yes, there are indeed many universities in Germany where you can pursue your undergraduate studies entirely in English. These are often structured as "international" degree programs and are quite popular with students from around the world.

Some notable examples include Constructor University, which is a private, English-language institution located in Bremen. Other English-speaking universities include Bard College Berlin and the Munich Business School. Public universities also offer a number of degree courses in English such as Technische Universität Berlin and Universität Hamburg.

Now, given that the Bachelor's level usually tends to have fewer English-taught programs compared to the Master's level, it's advisable to use databases like DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) that allow you to specifically filter for Bachelor's programs in English.

In addition to your coursework, keep in mind you might also want to learn some basic German for everyday living and interactions outside the university. It would undoubtedly enhance your overall experience living in Germany and open up more opportunities for social and cultural engagement. Remember, even though your studies are in English, you'll be living in a country where German is the primary language.

Lastly, be sure to check the specific admission requirements for international students at German universities, as they can differ from those of American institutions. The process might entail verifying your high school diploma to see if it matches the German Abitur (the German school-leaving certificate which entitles the holder to study at German universities), among other steps. Good luck with your decision!
