Most Desired VA Colleges

Quick question for anyone who might know: What are the most applied to colleges in Virginia? I'm a resident here and I'd love to know what my in-state peers are aiming for. Thanks in advance!

Virginia is home to a variety of excellent colleges and many of them see a high volume of applications every year. Among these, the University of Virginia (UVA), Virginia Tech (VT), and the College of William and Mary tend to be the most popular.

UVA, located in the charming town of Charlottesville, is one of the top public universities in the country. It offers a well-rounded liberal arts education, impressive athletics, and it's known for the strong sense of community among students.

Virginia Tech, located in Blacksburg, is another popular choice, particularly for students interested in Engineering and Architecture programs. Its high retention rate implies students are happy with their experience here.

The College of William and Mary, a public research university in Williamsburg, attracts many applicants due to its rich history (it's the second oldest in the country) and the intellectual rigor of its programs.

Apart from these, James Madison University (JMU) and Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) also receive a considerable number of applications. JMU has a strong reputation for its programs in Business, Education, and Health while VCU is known for its arts and biomedical programs.

Remember, when choosing colleges, popular doesn’t always mean best—for you. It's important to find colleges that align with your academic, career, and personal interests. Factors such as size, location, programs, and culture should be taken into account when making your college list.
