Which Jesuit college or university has the most active Jesuit faculty?

I'm really attracted to the values of Jesuit education and I'm considering Jesuit colleges. Does anyone know where I could find information about which Jesuits institutions have a lot of active Jesuit faculty?

Based on my experiences with Jesuit colleges, one that stands out in terms of active Jesuit faculty is Boston College. There are more than 20 Jesuits actively teaching across a variety of departments at Boston College, making it one of the institutions with the highest number of Jesuit faculty members. These Jesuits are not only present in religious studies departments, but also in areas like philosophy, history, and the sciences, which speaks to the interdisciplinary approach of Jesuit education.

That said, many Jesuit institutions have a significant number of active Jesuit faculty members. For example, Loyola University Chicago, Saint Louis University, and Georgetown University also have Jesuit faculty members playing active roles in teaching and administration.

However, I encourage you to consider that the number of Jesuit faculty is simply one element of the Jesuit experience at a given institution. In addition to considering the number, also look at how these faculty members are involved in the campus community and how the Jesuit values are integrated throughout the college's operations. This can include service-learning opportunities, reflective retreats, and the commitment to the "cura personalis" principle, the care for the whole person. These can all highlight the extent to which a college embraces its Jesuit identity.

Moreover, it is always a good idea to reach out to the college's admissions office or even try to connect with current students or faculty members if possible. They might be able to provide more detailed and personalized insights and help you better understand the culture of the institution. Happy searching, and remember that the best choice will be the one that aligns not only with your academic and career goals, but also with your personal values and ideals.
