Do Some Colleges Get More Applications Than Others?

I've been wondering recently if some colleges get more applicants than others. Curiosity might kill the cat, but does anyone know what the most applied to colleges are?

Yes, some colleges do receive more applications than others, and this number can vary significantly. The number of applications that a school receives can depend on several factors such as its reputation, location, financial aid offerings, academic programs, and overall popularity among high school seniors.

There are some colleges and universities that have traditionally been known to receive a high volume of applications. For example, the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) consistently receives one of the largest numbers of applications among US universities, with over 140,000 applications received for the 2023-2024 school year. Other University of California campuses also tend to receive a high number of applications.

New York University (NYU) is another school known for having a high application volume, in part due to its location in a major city and its diverse range of academic programs, while Boston University also typically receives a large number of applications.

Private institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) also attract many applicants due to their prestige and renowned programs.

Keep in mind that the number of applications a school receives can fluctuate from year to year, and it does not necessarily correlate with the quality or suitability of the school for a particular student. What's most important in the college application process is that you apply to schools that align with your individual interests, career goals, and preferences rather than solely focusing on popularity.
