Campus Life: Which Colleges Have the Most Students On-campus?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking that living on campus will help me make the most of my college experience, so do any of you know which colleges have the greatest percentage of students living on campus? Personal experiences would be great, too!

Hey there! Certainly, living on campus can contribute significantly to the whole college experience, and there are numerous colleges that prioritize on-campus living. A couple of institutions, off the top of my head, that are known for a high percentage of students living on campus include Bowdoin College, Georgetown University, and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), where almost all students live on-campus for at least the first year.

Bowdoin College in Maine, for instance, requires students to live on campus all years, which leads to approximately 95% of undergraduates living within the college grounds. This results in a vibrant and close-knit residential community emphasizing participation and involvement in academic and extracurricular activities.

Similar is the case with Georgetown University in Washington D.C., where nearly 85% of students reside on campus, primarily due to the university's on-campus stay requirements for the initial three years.

Caltech also houses a high rate of its students on campus – around 86% of them – which contributes to their unique House system that encourages both academic collaboration and social interaction.

However, it's important for you to consider other aspects of the college experience beyond the percentage of students living on campus, such as the campus infrastructure, facilities provided, the residential college system (if any), and the broader community culture.

And of course, consider your own preferences and what would make you feel the most comfortable and engaged. What works best will certainly depend on your personal comfort and fit with the school's culture. Good luck with your college search!
