What are the most/least chosen subjects in high school?

For the sake of curiosity, does anyone know which subjects in high school are most often taken by students, and which ones typically have lower enrollment? It'd be cool to see how my choices stack with the norm.

High school course enrollment can widely vary depending on factors like school location, resources, and student interests. However, some general trends can be noted.

For the most chosen subjects, English and Math classes typically have high enrollment because they are core subjects that most high schools require students to take each year. Also, many students take History and Science courses, as they are also usually required or strongly recommended.

In terms of elective courses, subjects like Foreign Languages and Physical Education can be popular due to graduation requirements or college admissions expectations. For example, many colleges recommend that applicants have at least 2-3 years of a foreign language.

As for the least chosen subjects, courses in areas such as Advanced Placement (AP) or Honors level courses might have lower enrollment because they involve rigorous coursework that not all students opt for. More specialized elective classes - such as philosophy, sociology, or specialized art or music classes might also have lower enrollment, often due to a smaller number of students interested in those specific areas or the fact that these courses are not offered in all high schools.

Again, it's essential to note that these trends might not apply to all high schools. It depends on various factors like the school's resources, student composition, and the course offerings at different schools. Always choose courses based on your interests, career aspirations, and ability, rather than what might be considered 'the norm.'
