Which high schools feed into UC Berkeley?

Hi all, I'm a junior considering applying to UC Berkeley. As part of my research, I want to know if there are particular high schools that consistently send a large number of students to Berkeley. Are there stats available for this? Thanks!

While exact statistics are hard to find, it is generally understood that UC Berkeley does take a considerable number of students from California high schools each year as part of their commitment to in-state students. While there may be some high schools that typically send more students due to factors like their size or academic rigor, keep in mind that this won't necessarily increase an individual applicant's chances.

In the UC system, admission officers look at applicants within the context of their own high school’s demographics. They'll compare you to other students at your school who are applying to ensure they're getting the top students from each institution across the state.

Therefore, the most important thing is to present the best application you can from wherever you are, rather than trying to figure out if certain schools have a better track record. This means focusing on your grades, coursework, extracurricular activities, essays, and letters of recommendation.

Also, don't forget that UC Berkeley is test-blind for the 2025-2026 application cycle, which means the school doesn't consider SAT or ACT scores at all in its admissions decisions.

Instead, they focus more on things like GPA, the rigor of the classes you've taken, your essays, extracurricular activities, and any applicable achievements within the context of your personal circumstances and the opportunities available at your school.
