Looking for info on the most expensive college book?

Hi, all! Might be a weird question, but can anyone tell me what the most expensive college textbook is? I'm trying to plan my finances for college and am curious about textbook costs. Any info you have would be great!

From a wealth of experience dealing with college textbook costs, they can range quite widely depending on the course of study. For instance, science, engineering, and other technical field textbooks can get pretty expensive, often ranging from $150-$250 per book, sometimes even stretching to the $300 ballpark.

One notorious example of a pricey textbook is "Acta Philosophorum: The First Journal for Ancient Philosophy," which is said to cost more than $1,000! Similarly, some specialized law or medical textbooks could also reach into the hundreds, if not over $1,000. However, these represent the extreme upper end of textbook costs. Please note that the actual price of any given book would depend on where you're buying from, its condition (new, used, or rented), and the edition required.

If you're looking to minimize costs, there are several strategies you can use. For instance, you can often find cheaper or even free versions of textbooks online, rent textbooks from various services, buy used books, or even share with a classmate if that's feasible. Plus, your college library may have copies available for free use.

In terms of budgeting, a good rule of thumb is to set aside around $1,200 per year for textbooks and supplies, as that is the average amount students spend according to the College Board. This is by no means definitive, and your own costs could vary depending on your course load and major.
