What's the most expensive college in Chicago?

I'm a junior looking into colleges and I'm shocked at how much some of these tuition fees are! Just for my curiosity and planning, does anyone know what the most expensive college is in Chicago?

The most expensive college to attend in Chicago falls under the private university category. Specifically, the University of Chicago often ranks as one of the costliest academic institutions, not just in the city, but also the entire nation. The tuition for the 2024-2025 academic year stands at around $67,500. When you factor in other costs such as room and board, books, supplies, and personal expenses, the total cost of attendance (COA) can exceed $93,000 per year.

Now, it's essential to remember these are sticker prices. It’s the price before financial aid, scholarships, or grants are deducted. Many students receive some sort of financial aid, so they may not pay the full price.

For example, the University of Chicago has a "No Barriers" program that eliminates student loans, making it more affordable for low-income and middle-income students. Also, for families with an income less than $125,000, the university often covers full tuition. Therefore, despite having high tuition, these kind of generous financial aid programs can make college more affordable than it first appears.

So while looking at the tuition and overall costs, also consider and research the financial aid programs each college offers. It can make a big difference.
