Schools with large numbers of international students?

Hey all, I'm trying to be intentional about immersing myself in diverse cultures during college. I was wondering, does anyone know which colleges have the most foreign students? Maybe they have special programs or scholarships that attract international talent?

Indeed, interacting with international students can expand your cultural understanding and provide nuanced perspectives. Here are five universities known to have large international student populations:

1. New York University (NYU) - NYU, in the heart of cosmopolitan New York City, is known for a robust international community, largely due to its global campus approach. NYU spends considerable effort in recruiting internationally and has multiple campuses worldwide.

2. University of Southern California (USC) - USC, located in Los Angeles, has one of the largest number of international students in the U.S. The city's international ambiance and USC's proactive recruiting strategies have made it a top choice.

3. Northeastern University - Located in Boston, Northeastern attracts a sizable international crowd due to its strong co-op program that provides practical real-world exposure, often sought after by international students.

4. Columbia University - Also located in New York City, Columbia University's mix of world-class academics and a diverse student body has been attractive to international students.

5. University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign - In the Midwest, this university has an extensive international student population, and it is particularly a favourite among students studying engineering.

Financial aid and scholarships for international students vary widely, and they can be quite competitive. However, some U.S. colleges, such as Princeton, Harvard, and Yale, are known for offering generous need-based aid to international students. On the other hand, schools like the University of Minnesota and Arizona State University offer quite a few merit-based scholarships for international students.

Remember, though, it's not just about numbers- community support, clubs/organizations for international students, and resources for cultural acclimation can greatly enhance the international student experience, so consider these factors when researching schools as well.
