Which high schools offer the most AP courses?

Hey folks, I'm trying to challenge myself academically and want to take more APs next year. I'm curious, which high schools in the US provide the most AP courses? Are there specific criteria that these schools meet?

Sure, happy to help answer this!

The schools that typically offer the most AP courses are often public magnet schools, specialized public schools, or private preparatory schools. Top ranked high schools like the Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia, Basis Scottsdale in Arizona, or the GSMST in Georgia typically offer a breadth of AP courses. Some private schools like Philips Exeter Academy and Philips Andover Academy up near Boston also offer a large array of APs.

The exact number of AP classes offered can vary significantly from school to school. Some schools offer as many as 30 or more different AP courses, while others might offer fewer than 10.

The course offerings at a particular school depend on a variety of factors, such as student interest, teacher qualifications, and resources. In order to offer an AP course, a school needs to have a teacher who is qualified and willing to teach at the AP level, and the school must submit a subject-specific AP Course Audit form. Schools that have larger budgets and prioritize advanced curriculum are typically the ones offering the greatest number of AP courses.

Please note that offering a wide range of AP courses is not the only measure of a school's academic prowess or the opportunities available for students. High schools may focus on other academically rigorous opportunities such as dual-enrollment programs or International Baccalaureate (IB) programs.
