Hey everyone, senior year awaits me next year and this question popped in my head. Typically, how old are most high school seniors?
Most high school seniors in the United States are typically 17 or 18 years old. This is based on the assumption that a student begins kindergarten at the age of 5 or 6, works their way through 12 years of basic education, and therefore, would be in their final year, or senior year, at about 17 or 18 years old.
Of course, this can vary depending on several factors such as when a student started school, whether they ever skipped or repeated a grade. So while 17-18 is the norm, it's not unusual for students to be a year or so older or younger. In essence, there's a range and it's not at all unusual for there to be 16 or 19-year-olds in a senior class as well. Hope this helps!
