Any packing tips for college-bound students?

Hey everyone! I'm starting to think about what I'll need for college. What's the most efficient way to pack clothes for the start of the semester? Is there a system or method to make sure everything arrives in good shape? What worked for you?

In my experience, when packing clothes, you want to take into consideration the space you have and how to make the best use of it.

Firstly, try to bring clothes that are appropriate for the first couple of months of the semester, and swap them out for other clothes when you visit home or have someone visiting you. This way you can save space by not bringing all your clothes at once. If this approach doesn't work for you, vacuum seal bags can be really effective in reducing the volume of clothing items (especially bulky ones like coats and sweaters), and they also protect your clothes from any potential spills or leaks during transportation.

Secondly, when packing your clothes, rolling them instead of folding can make a huge difference. Rolled clothing doesn't wrinkle as much, and it tends to fit better into small spaces and corners, allowing you to maximize the space in your suitcase.

For clothes that wrinkle easily, using packing folders can be really helpful. These are thin, stiff boards around which you can fold your clothes and then place in your suitcase to keep them crisp and smooth.

Remember to also pack a laundry bag or basket, so you have a place to keep your dirty clothes, and it saves you the trouble of getting one when you're there.

Lastly, don't forget to pack hangers! Most college closets don't include these, but they're crucial for keeping your clothes in good condition.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your packing and move!
