Which college degrees are known to be the most enjoyable?

I'm a high school junior starting to think seriously about my future, but I'm not the type who wants to pick a major just because it might be profitable down the line. I really want to enjoy and engage with what I'm studying. What college degrees tend to be the most enjoyable for students, and why?

Responding as a college admissions counselor, I'd say that the perceived enjoyment of a college degree can greatly vary from student to student, as it is largely based on personal interests and strengths. However, there are a number of degrees that many students often describe as enjoyable due to the hands-on experience, intellectual satisfaction, creative opportunities, and cross-disciplinary studies they offer.

One such degree is Psychology. Its popularity often comes from the fascinating insights it offers into human behavior. The ability to apply what you've learned in daily life can make this major quite enjoyable.

Degrees in the Humanities, such as Philosophy, English, and History, often lead to lively class discussions and encourage critical thinking, which many students find engaging.

Degrees in the visual and performing arts can be immensely enjoyable for creative and passionate students. The process of creating artwork or performances and seeing one's ideas come to life is inherently rewarding and enjoyable.

Interactive degrees like Computer Science, which offer the capability to build and create functional programs or platforms, can be extremely satisfying. Similarly, Engineering disciplines provide hands-on problem solving that many students find engaging and fun.

Environmental Sciences and similar degrees often include fieldwork that can be a welcome change of pace from the typical classroom setting.

Lastly, if you have a passion for languages, getting a degree in Foreign Languages can be not only enjoyable, but also opens up opportunities for studying abroad.

Remember, the key is finding something that aligns with your passion and interests. Exploring a wide range of subjects in your first college year may help you discover what you truly enjoy studying.
