Computer Programming Degree Duration

Hi all, I'm considering majoring in computer science and I'm wondering, how long do most computer programmers go to college for? I know there are some bootcamps and shorter courses as alternatives, but if I wanted to go the traditional university route, what's the average time frame? Thanks in advance!

A traditional bachelor's degree in Computer Science, which is the path many prospective computer programmers take, typically takes about four years to complete if you are attending school full-time. This timeframe can vary based on a variety of factors such as whether you take summer courses or choose to do a college co-op, which is a structured program that integrates classroom learning with practical work experience in your field.

Some students might complete it faster if they came in with a number of AP credits or if they decide to take more than a full load of classes in a semester. Alternatively, some students might take more than four years to complete the degree if they study part-time or take a reduced course load.

Also, keep in mind that while earning the degree is one step, continuing to learn and keep up with new languages and developments in the field is an ongoing process in the world of computer science.
