Looking for some input here. I mean, I know Harvard and Yale and all that, but what are some other renowned colleges in the US that I should consider?
There are a lot of prestigious institutions in the U.S. beyond Harvard and Yale.
On the East Coast, Princeton University and Columbia University are part of the Ivy League alongside Harvard and Yale. In the mid-Atlantic region, Johns Hopkins University is known for its strong programs in the sciences and international studies. Near the South, Duke University and Vanderbilt University are prestigious and well-respected.
In the Midwest, Northwestern University and University of Chicago, both located in Illinois, are highly esteemed. On the West Coast, academic powerhouses include Stanford University and the California Institute of Technology (Caltech).
There are also some phenomenal liberal arts colleges, such as Amherst College and Williams College in Massachusetts, Pomona College in California, and Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania.
Lastly, the University of California and University of Michigan systems have some top-ranked public universities—particularly UC Berkeley, UCLA, and University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Remember, though, that a college's fame doesn't necessarily make it the best fit for you. Factors such as academic programs, size, location, campus culture, and financial aid opportunities can also be hugely important in your college search.
