I am currently in the process of shortlisting colleges and I'm looking for colleges that provide a good balance of academics and fun. Does anybody have any suggestions for which colleges in the US are notorious for their fun, social atmospheres?
One school that comes to mind immediately is the University of Southern California (USC). USC, located in Los Angeles, has excellent sports programs which tend to create a festive atmosphere on game days, plus endless opportunities to explore the city.
Another could be the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The school is known for its lively campus life and is situated in a city regularly ranked as one of the best college towns in America. There are countless cultural events and, of course, "Jump Around," a tradition where everyone jumps to the tune of House of Pain's song during football games creates a fun atmosphere.
Tulane University, situated in beautiful and vibrant New Orleans, is also known for fostering a balance of hard work and play. The university encourages students to experience the city's unique culture, including Mardi Gras celebrations and jazz festivals.
Finally, the University of Florida in Gainesville has a reputation for being full of spirit and enthusiasm. Their famous "Gator Chomp" during sports events is especially notable. Moreover, the student body is always finding ways to engage in fun activities, including salsa dancing lessons, and outdoor movie nights.
Remember that what constitutes 'fun' might be different for everyone, so I would recommend further research into these schools, or others that come recommended, to see if they match your personal interests.
