Cost of Public Colleges in Michigan

Hey guys, I'm a junior this year and starting to look into colleges. I'm particularly interested in public colleges in my home state of Michigan. Does anyone know which ones are the most expensive?

Hey there! When talking about public colleges in Michigan, the cost tends to vary depending on whether you're an in-state or out-of-state student. For Michigan residents, though, it's quite standard that the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor is usually the priciest public institution. Tuition rates change every year but as of last year, the estimated in-state tuition and fees for an undergraduate were around $17,736.

On the other hand, Michigan State University's approximate in-state undergraduate tuition and fees were around $16,526, and Western Michigan University's were roughly $15,126. Central Michigan University was approximately $11,448 and Eastern Michigan University hovered around $15,920.

Keep in mind, that these estimates include only tuition and mandatory fees, and not other expenses like housing, meal plans, textbooks, and personal expenses, which can add a considerable amount to the overall cost of attendance.

Remember, cost shouldn't be your only consideration when choosing a college. You should also consider factors such as the programs the school offers, location, size, and campus culture, among others. Also, don't forget about financial aid and scholarships, which can significantly reduce the cost of your education. Use net price calculators on college websites to get a better estimate of what you might pay after aid is considered.

So take a step back and look at the big picture, as this is a big decision that will affect the next few years of your life and beyond. Good luck with your college search!
