What are some good colleges to have fun in New England?

Hey, everyone. I'm a junior and seriously thinking about what kind of experience I want for my college life. I'm wondering about colleges in the New England area that have solid academics but also have a reputation for being fun - like, a vibrant campus life, good location, etc. Anyone got good suggestions?

Your college experience is definitely about both academics and lifestyle, and it's great that you're taking both into account! Here are a couple of New England colleges that are reputed for offering both strong academics and an exciting student life:

1. Brown University (Providence, Rhode Island): Brown has an open curriculum, allowing students the flexibility to explore different academic interests, which adds a unique flavor to the academic life. Additionally, Providence is a vibrant small city with an artsy vibe and has a lot to offer in terms of food, culture, and entertainment. The bonding among students and the commitment to social impact gives Brown a fun and inclusive culture.

2. University of Vermont (Burlington, Vermont): Known for its academics and environmental commitment, UVM is located in Burlington, one of the liveliest small towns in New England. The Lake Champlain waterfront, the vibrant Church Street Marketplace, and the opportunities for outdoor activities like hiking and skiing contribute to an enjoyable student life.

3. University of Massachusetts Amherst (Amherst, Massachusetts): Though it's a large research university, the campus has a community feel and a lot of school spirit. The Five College Consortium, which also includes Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and Hampshire College, increases the academic and social opportunities available to students.

4. Tufts University (Medford, Massachusetts): Tufts students are known for being passionate and driven, but also for balancing work and play. Located just outside of Boston, there's always plenty to do. On campus, students are involved in a range of activities from clubs to Greek life.

5. Boston College (Boston, Massachusetts): BC is known for its vibrant campus culture and highly spirited student body who are part of many traditions. Plus, with downtown Boston a short ride away, there are countless options for off-campus activities.

Remember, fun is relative and depends on what you're interested in. It's always useful to virtually tour these universities or visit in person, if it's feasible. Reach out to current students or faculty to get a better sense of each college's culture and daily life. Good luck with your college search!
