I'm glad you're taking personal lifestyle into account in your college search. It's important to find a place where you'll be comfortable and able to maintain the lifestyle you want.

Colleges known for having a strong culture of fitness and outdoor activities usually come with easy access to outdoor recreational activities. Schools like the University of Colorado Boulder and the University of California, Santa Barbara are recognized for their on-campus and off-campus recreational opportunities. Colorado Boulder, in particular, offers outstanding outdoor activities with their surrounding mountains, and UCSB is located right on the beach, great for various water sports.

Another school to consider would be Middlebury College, known for their impressive athletic program and culture of active living. Furthermore, with its location in Vermont, students have easy access to skiing and other outdoor pursuits.

Stanford University may also be a good choice. Nestled in the heart of Silicon Valley, Stanford not only places a strong emphasis on academia and innovation but also sports and physical fitness. The University offers state-of-art fitness facilities and a variety of sport clubs and intramural sports, which many students participate in.

Lastly, the University of Texas, Austin has an extensive recreational sports center and offers more than 40 sports clubs and 20 intramural sports. The school regularly ranks high in national surveys of the 'fittest schools'.

That being said, most college campuses have gym facilities and sports clubs that promote an active lifestyle regardless of their location. So don’t worry, you'll surely find plenty of fitness-minded peers around you. When narrowing down your list, you may want to look for schools that also align with your academic interests and career goals.
