Looking for Highly LGBTQ+ Friendly Colleges and Universities

Hey folks, I'm starting to work on my college list. I wanna make sure I'll be comfortable with my identity in college, so I'm aiming for LGBTQ+ friendly institutions. Can anyone suggest some gay-friendly colleges or universities worth considering?

There are quite a few universities known for their inclusivity and supportive environment for the LGBTQ+ community. Here are some options you may consider:

1. University of Washington: Located in Seattle, a city known for its liberal attitudes and support for LGBTQ+ rights, the University of Washington is consistently ranked as one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly schools in the nation.

2. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): UCLA has an LGBTQ+ Campus Resource Center and offers several gender studies classes. Los Angeles is also a city with a vibrant LGBTQ+ culture.

3. University of Wisconsin-Madison: This school supports its students with the Gender and Sexuality Campus Center (GSCC), which offers networking opportunities, resources, and more.

4. University of Pennsylvania (UPenn): UPenn has the Penn LGBT Center which supports students and also organizes social events. They offer numerous resources and even have a designated space for LGBTQ+ students.

5. Stanford University: In addition to a dedicated Queer Student Resources center, Stanford also has cooperative houses that serve as safe spaces for LGBTQ+ identifying student communities.

Whilst these are only some examples, it's important to remember that what makes a college or university LGBTQ+ friendly can be very personal. It can be helpful to reach out to current LGBTQ+ students or alumni of the universities you are considering to get their perspectives. Also, consider if the school has inclusive policies, support centers, clubs, events, and if it's situated in a city with a powerful LGBTQ+ presence. Always remember that you deserve to be in an environment where you feel accepted and safe, and there are plenty of colleges and universities out there that offer those supportive spaces.
