Searching for a college that's fun and supportive for sensitive nerds

I'm a self-proclaimed sensitive nerd, currently in 11th grade, and I'm starting the college search. I'd love to hear any recommendations for colleges that have a good balance of academics and social activities where someone like me could thrive. Looking for places where being a 'nerd' is celebrated and where there is a supportive community.

One place to consider is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While MIT is renowned for its rigorous academic culture and prominence in fields like computer science and engineering, they also foster a supportive and inclusive community where you can expect a celebration of 'nerdy' passions. The student body is deeply invested in their studies and research, but there's also a strong sense of camaraderie and communal pride in being 'Techers.'

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in Troy, New York, is another great option. RPI has a welcoming environment for students interested in STEM fields and hosts activities such as hackathons and game nights. There's a strong collaborative aspect to the school culture, making it a wonderful community for those who appreciate a more supportive environment.

Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh could also be a great fit. There's a thriving "nerd" culture, with strong programs in fields like computer science, engineering, and drama. The university is also known for its collaborative environment, where students support each other academically and socially.
