Is it significant to factor in happiness when choosing a college?

I'm trying to narrow down my college list and, you guys, it's a headache and a half honestly. I'm seeing a lot about academics and prestige, but what about happiness? I mean, is it crucial to factor in things like campus environment and student culture?

Absolutely! College is not just about academics, but also about growing personally, making lasting friendships, and gaining life experiences outside of the classroom. It's important to consider the campus environment and student culture as these can majorly contribute to your happiness and overall college experience.

Different campuses have different vibes. Some might have a very competitive atmosphere, while others might be more collaborative. Some might have vibrant social scenes with active nightlives and tons of clubs and organizations, while others may be more quiet and scholarly. It's important to think about what kind of environment you personally thrive in and will be most happy in.

It's also worth thinking about what student culture looks like at various schools. Are there a lot of community-building activities and events? Are students engaged with local and global issues? Are there clubs and organizations that align with your passions?

Lastly, consider the resources and support services the college offers. You'll want a college that supports its students emotionally and acadically, like regular access to mental health services, career counseling, academic assistance, etc.

Remember, it's not all about academics - you’re there for an education, yes, but you're also there to live for 4 years of your life. Be sure to factor in ‘fit’ and happiness when deciding where to apply or attend.
