Successful Without College: Who are some examples?

Hey there, just out of interest, can anyone give examples of really intelligent people who didn’t attend college but still became successful? I know Bill Gates and Steve Jobs are popular examples, but I'm sure there are others as well?

Absolutely! Many people have achieved considerable success without attending college, or without completing a degree. Here are a few examples:

1. Mark Zuckerberg: He's famously known as the founder of Facebook but did not complete his studies. He dropped out of Harvard University to focus on expanding Facebook.

2. Richard Branson: The founder of the Virgin Group, Branson is a prominent business magnate, investor, and philanthropist. He struggled academically due to dyslexia and dropped out of school at 16 to start a youth-culture magazine called Student.

3. Ellen DeGeneres: This renowned TV personality and comedian studied at the University of New Orleans for just one semester before leaving to work a variety of jobs.

4. Ralph Lauren: Lauren did not complete his Business Studies degree at Baruch College. He left school to join the army, after which he sold ties, eventually expanding to a line of men's clothing, launching the Polo brand.

5. Michael Dell: Dell is the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, one of the world's largest technology infrastructure companies. He dropped out of the University of Texas at Austin at 19 to focus on his fledgling computer business.

6. Oprah Winfrey: Although she has since earned honorary degrees, Winfrey left Tennessee State University to pursue a career in media.

It's important to note that while these individuals have indeed achieved incredible success, they are outliers, and every journey is unique. Whether to attend college is a personal decision and depends on an individual's career goals, personal interests, financial considerations, and more.
