Which are the most popular college hockey teams?

I'm a big hockey fan and I was just wondering which colleges have the most popular hockey teams. Ideally, I'd love to be part of a college where hockey is a big deal. Any information helps, thanks!

Definitely! Hockey-fan communities in college can be intense and exuberant, and some schools are well-known for having strong ice hockey teams with a large fan base. A couple of the more popular college hockey teams are from schools that compete in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) and the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC).

1. University of North Dakota (UND): The UND Fighting Hawks have one of the most successful hockey programs in the country. Their team has won multiple national championships and has a particularly devoted fan base.

2. Boston University (BU): The Terriers won five national championships and have a considerable following. Also, the Beanpot, an annual hockey tournament that features Boston's four major college hockey teams, is a significant event that draws in lots of fans.

3. University of Minnesota: The Golden Gophers have a historic program with numerous NCAA tournament appearances and several national titles. Not to mention, hockey is quite popular in the state of Minnesota.

4. Cornell University: As a member of the ECAC, Cornell's Big Red has a storied history in hockey. Their rivalry with Harvard is one of the most anticipated games each season.

Of course, popularity of hockey can vary from region to region and can also change year by year depending on the team's performance. Nonetheless, these schools tend to offer a strong college hockey community.
