Most LGBT+ inclusive Oxford College?

Hi everyone, I'm considering applying to Oxford, but as a member of the LGBT+ community, inclusivity is super important to me. What are your experiences or knowledge about the most LGBT inclusive Oxford colleges?

Hi, it's wonderful that you're considering Oxford, and you're absolutely right to prioritize an environment that's respectful and inclusive. Whilst all Oxford colleges adhere to a strong anti-discrimination policy and work to make sure all students feel safe and supported, some colleges might stand out due to their particularly vibrant LGBT+ scenes.

One notable college is Wadham College, which is often mentioned for its strong commitment to equality and has a particularly active and visible LGBT+ community. They hold several events throughout the year, including their famous 'Queerfest', which is open to all Oxford students and greatly contributes to Wadham's reputation as a friendly and supportive space for LGBT+ students.

Somerville College is another which is often highlighted for its inclusive atmosphere. Somerville previously was a women's college and has a proud history of promoting equality and championing social reform, which seems to have contributed to its open and welcoming culture.

However, it's crucial to remember that inclusivity can hugely depend on individuals within each college. It may be helpful to look beyond just the colleges and explore what the wider university has to offer. For instance, the university-wide Oxford LGBTQ+ Society might be of interest to you as it uncovers a supportive network and various events throughout the university.

Remember, this is just based on what's generally reported about these colleges. The best way to gain a feel for a college's atmosphere is often by speaking to its current students directly, so I'd really recommend using Oxford's outreach programs or virtual tours, or connecting with current students online, to ask about their personal experiences.
