All Time Most Hyped College Football Players?

I'm working on an essay for my English class about sports culture in America, and I've chosen college football as my focus. I'm looking for the most hyped college football players of all time. Who were they, and why were they so hyped? Did they live up to expectations in their college careers and beyond (in the NFL, if they went that route)?

A few players come to mind when discussing the most hyped college football players of all time. Here are a few notable examples:

1. Tim Tebow, a quarterback from the University of Florida, was enormously hyped during his college career. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2007, becoming the first sophomore ever to do so. Apart from his impressive athletic abilities, his charismatic leadership and the passion he displayed on the field also contributed to the hype surrounding him. In the NFL, he had a few bright moments, including a playoff victory with the Denver Broncos, but his career didn't quite match the success he had in college.

2. Herschel Walker was a running back for the University of Georgia and is considered one of the best college football players ever. His powerful running style and speed led to immense hype. He won the Heisman Trophy in 1982 and had a successful professional career, both in the short-lived USFL and the NFL.

3. Reggie Bush, a running back for USC, was highly hyped due to his speed, agility, and ability to change games with big plays. He won the Heisman Trophy in 2005, though it was later vacated due to NCAA violations. In the NFL, he had a solid career, though injuries hampered his performance.

4. Jadeveon Clowney, a defensive end for South Carolina, received a lot of hype for his size, speed, and power. One particular hit during the Outback Bowl in 2013 contributed greatly to this hype. In the NFL, his career has had ups and downs due to injuries but he's had periods of dominance.

These players experienced varying degrees of success post-college, and their experiences underline the fact that hype in college doesn't always translate to success in the professional leagues. These examples could form an interesting angle in your essay to discuss the pressure associated with such hype and the subsequent career trajectories.
