Looking for insight on Animation Programs

Hey guys, I'm a junior who's pretty interested in pursuing animation for my career. I've been practicing it on my own for a while now and I'm trying to find colleges that offer a good animation program. Figured it's one way to ramp up my skills further. Any insight on some of the most knowledge filled animator colleges that I should consider?

Sure, there are some great colleges that are known for their strong Animation programs. Here are a few:

California Institute of the Arts (CalArts), located in Valencia, California, is one of the top rated schools for animation in the country. Their program encompasses training in conventional and state-of-the-art animation techniques. Many notable animators from major studios like Pixar and Disney are CalArts alumni.

Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) also offers robust programs in Animation and has campuses in Georgia, Hong Kong, and Lacoste, France. SCAD's animation program balances creativity with the technical aspects of the field, offering courses in 3D modeling, storyboarding, character design, and more.

Ringling College of Art and Design, located in Sarasota, Florida, is renowned for its Computer Animation program. It's a rigorous program focusing on both the art of animation and the technology that powers it.

University of Southern California (USC) has a School of Cinematic Arts which houses their Animation and Digital Arts program. They offer both practical skillsets and critical theory, giving students a comprehensive understanding of the field.

Lastly, RISD (Rhode Island School of Design) is another excellent choice with a strong animation program. It provides a strong foundation in drawing, which is crucial for animation, and intensively explores concepts, techniques, and processes of animation.

It's important to do your own research, too. Look into the specific courses offered, internship opportunities, and work produced by current students and alumni. Also consider factors beyond the animation program, like financial aid, location, campus culture, and overall fit for you. This concerns not only your academic pursuits but your personal comfort and happiness as well.

Hope this gives you a good starting point.
