Most impressive AP classes in the eyes of colleges?

Hey guys, I'm a high school junior aiming for top-tier colleges, and I have a question. Which AP classes seem to be the most impressive to colleges? Or does it entirely depend on my intended major? Curious to hear your thoughts. Cheers!

When considering what AP classes to take, it's important to remember that colleges generally value rigor and relevance.

Rigor refers to challenging coursework, and the quality of APs, not just the quantity. Taking AP courses in a wide range of subjects that you're interested in and that you can excel in would demonstrate academic breadth and a willingness to take on challenges.

Relevance refers to how closely the AP courses align with your intended major or career path. For instance, if you're planning a career in science or engineering, taking AP courses such as AP Physics C, AP Biology, or AP Calculus BC could be seen as more impressive. On the other hand, if you're considering humanities or social sciences, colleges might find AP History, AP Literature, or AP Government courses more beneficial.

However, remember that the best choice often depends on your personal academic strengths, capabilities, and interests. It's vital to choose classes that will challenge you but not overwhelm you.

Ultimately, colleges want to see students pushing themselves in the context of what's available at their high school and succeeding academically. So, it's better to get an A in an honors course than a C in an AP course! Taking every AP course available isn't necessary and can be counterproductive if it leads to burnout and diminished performance. Balance is key.
